Board Members

Kevin Stefanik, President
Kevin Stefanik is a saxophonist in the ensemble.  Originally from Alexandria, VA, Kevin learned saxophone at an early age.  His private teacher through high school was Ed Fraedrich, a second-generation student of Marcel Mule.  He also has been in the Virginia State band, as well as several ensembles at Virginia Tech including Saxophone Quartet, the Marching Virginians, and Wind Ensemble.  As an electrical engineer, he now resides in Roanoke and spends his time at home with his daughter and two lovable dogs.

James Fox, Vice President
James Fox is a soldier in the 29th Division Band, Virginia Army National Guard. He has traveled to Ireland and France to play music both for the Army and as a civilian. James is also very involved with the marching arts having marched Jersey Surf Drum and Bugle corps for three years in Drum Corps International. More recently, He taught 3 years as the visual and marching instructor for the Salem High School Marching Band. James works full time as a technician's apprentice for a heating and air condition company. In addition to Winds of the Blue Ridge, he plays split lead with the Let's Dance Jazz Band and also subs in for the Roanoke College jazz and wind ensembles.

Janet Clue, Secretary
Janet Clue is a graduate of Shenandoah University with a Bachelors Degree in Arts Management. She has played flute for over 20 years as a soloist and ensemble member. She worked in the music retail business for over 6 years in the Washington DC area. She is a member of the Blue Ridge New Music Collaborative. She has been a member of the Winds Of The Blue Ridge since 2014. She currently resides in Roanoke, Virginia with her husband and two daughters.

Gary Kraterfield
Gary began playing bassoon in 1966.  In addition to his involvement with WOBR, he has performed with the Roanoke Valley Community Band, the Bedford Community Orchestra, the Valley Chamber Orchestra, and with a woodwind quintet.  Gary earned his MSCS degree at Virginia Tech and worked many years as a software analyst for GE before his retirement.  He and his wife, Susan, enjoy playing bridge and ballroom dancing in their spare time.
